Howdy folks and welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Now if you know me you know i'm very active in the Japanese martial art called Kendo. And my local club is maybe not surprisingly a nest of various creative types including myself. One of them is Max who is my junior in the club but it turns out that in the world of film he is my senior. As we talk about in the podcast Max has been in involved with Indy film for a long while serving as both screen writer and assistant director. In our conversation we cover his origins in theatre , what film school is really like and the transition to Indy film making and why it's the place he prefers to be. We also discuss film festivals, the academy awards and just talk all kinds of shop about the medium. It was really awesome getting to chat with max about his experience and while I may get to continue correcting him on his swing I hope he will be back to continue to school me on film.
Our promotion shout out this episode came perfectly timed with the theme of this episode and with the start of Pride month. I was made aware of a small production in Hamilton trying to launch it's pilot episode, a little project called
"The B in LGBT". I came to know about this project through one of the cast members I've known through quite some time now and when I read the synopsis I became very intrigued. In particular I like how they will aim to "Show those in LGBTQ2IA+ community living out there normal, every day lives, just as others (or straight people) do. We aren’t focusing on their coming out stories and struggles with being part of this community. "
So I encourage you to go support this project and allow some unique stories to be told and just support local independent film making in Ontario. Support the Kickstarter here and tell em we sent you.
